Hi. I am trying to find out as much information in relation to my 2x Greatgrandfather Henry Edward Marriot.  Born 1878 Derby, Derbyshire, England. Married Mary Ann Ridgard. Died 1955 in Belper, Derbyshire, England.


I am mainy trying to put a picture to him as I have been handed his war medals from the First and second world war. Would it be possible for my search to be narrowed down to a precise one do you know?

I Have 3 Medals, They have wording on the side.

1st Medal). "169. PTE.H.E.MARRIOTT R.A.M.C"

2nd Medal). "169. PTE.H.E.MARRIOTT R.A.M.C"

3rd Medal). "7697 CPL.H.MARRIOTT DERBY DIV*5 DIS S.J.A.B 1929"

The first 2 are the British War & Victory Medals meaning he served in a theatre of war 1916-18.
The 3rd. is St. John's Ambulance.
Without a service record it's impossible to say which Division he was attached to during the war & his is one of the 60% destroyed in WW2.
His 169 number indicates he was a pre-war soldier.

That’s a shame, how did you find out it was one of the ones destroyed?

So I take it I won’t be able to find any anymore information about him or by any chance find a picture of him?

Service & Pension records are on Ancestry but he's not one of them.
