Kings Shropshire Light Infantry DCM recipent

I wonder if some one could advise if it is possible to find out the circumstances that this medal was issued to Sargeant William Harrison No. 2960 Kings Shropshire Light Infantry, He sereved during the Boer War 1899-1902. Many thanks.

Not named but as starter, the story of 2 KSLI is here:

As well as being awarded a DCM (London Gazette 27 Sep 1901), he was mentioned in despatches 10 Sep 1901.

The Shropshire Regimental museum may be able to advise further if nothing turns up here.

The medal was presented to him at Castle Square, Chester on Saturday 4 July 1903 by Major General Hallam Parr. (Warrington Guardian 8 July 1903).  But I suspect that you really want details of the award, rather than the issue.

The award was Gazetted on 10 September 1901 https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/27353/page/5947 Sorry - no - that's the mention in despatches !

His army record has a date 29.11.00 for the DCM award on one page but elsewhere it says 29 January 1902.
