Arthur Roland (or Rowland) Bradley, b 1871
« on: Tuesday 26 June 18 15:52 BST (UK) »
Trying to find the parentage of Arthur Roland Bradley, b Undercliffe/Bradford in 1871.

On the 1871 census he is a grandson of Hannah Bradley, with Hannah's children Faith, Alfred, and Thomas. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VBZ7-HP4

On the 1881 census, he is a Visitor Nephew to Thomas & Ann Peel. An Alfred Bradley (Brother-in-Law) is in the same household. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q27T-3QTY

Can't see him on the 1891?

By 1901, he is a photographer in Reading. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XS3P-TN2

And in 1911, he is still a photographer in Reading, but is now married, with 2 children.
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X7LF-N1X

He later appears in documents on the Isle of Man, as a nephew to Ellen Bradley/Stopford/Earle-Hunt.

The family are all born in either Undercliffe or Eccleshill.
Undercliffe Baptism Register starts in 1872 - and he isn't there ;D
I have looked at Eccleshill Baptism Register, but can't see him there, either :-\

There are 3 Bradley daughters to choose from for the potential mother!
Faith, b 1848-1851, who had an illegitimate child later in 1874 (Annie).
Ann, b1847. Married Thomas Peel. An Unlikely candidate.
Ellen, b1852. She came to the Isle of Man; was a rich widow, and a philanthropist!

So, it's just Arthur's parents I want to find.

Not seeing any Bradley-Bradley marriages around?

My thinking is that he was illegitimate.
I was hoping that he was on someone's tree, or people had access to registers that I don't ;D

Will probably order the pdf tomorrow.
I am spending somebody elses's money - so need their say-so first ;)

My money's on being Faith being the mum, because there no-one else in the household able to feed a 2mth old baby.

Ellen is the "person of interest" in this family.
Just wanted to confirm, or refute, that she may have been the mother?

1871 census has Ellen as a Domestic Servant to an Attorney & Solicitor.
