Terry family Medway Towns and the Terry dairy
« on: Wednesday 27 June 18 07:13 BST (UK) »
Hi, I was wondering if anyone is researching the Terry family from round the Medway Towns? I'd also be interested in any information on the Terry Dairy in Rainham. I found some comments on a Rainham site about the dairy but would love to know more about the family that owned and ran it. TIA  ;D

Have you seen this thread on the Kent History Forum?

Also, you might find something in a book called Off the Beaten Track : a short history of Bredhurst, Wigmore, Parkwood and Hempstead by Geoffrey Hufton.

It's available at Medway Libraries.

Thanks so much! Brilliant. Unfortunately I'm in Oz so won't be able to access the book :'( I'd love to know more about Harry Terry (who started the dairy with his brother) so might ask for a look up :) Thanks for your help.

Thanks bearkat I have been referred to this before but still excited to see it. I'm not sure if anyone can clarify but I don't believe this was the Harry who set up the dairy with Charley. I think it was his son Harry or formally Frank Harry Terry. In 1939 I have this Harry (Charles Cooper) as a fruit and poultry farmer and Harry (Frank) a milk roundsman and Charley as a master dairyman. I wonder if Harry (Frank) and Charley had children who carried on in the business?
