please help, a probable lost cause. My grandmother Agnes Linkston
« on: Wednesday 27 June 18 20:16 BST (UK) »
Its a sad state of affairs but this terrible quality photocopy is the only image I have of my nan who passed 25 years ago.  I know its a big ask but I would be so grateful if anyone could just make it even a little bit better, I'd love to be able to see her face more clearly.

My try.
H, I've tried to rescue as much of your nan's face as possible without "making it up". A little better but not great.
Cheers,
Peter

I had no photos of mine until my sibling suddenly said she had some photos from a wedding she attended when she was aged 4.  And there she was. And, as it was a wedding group shot, there was also my great gran lurking in a corner, half turned ...

In fact, at the time of writing, that photo is my image here on the left... and the 4 year old who still had the photo is standing at the front.

Are you in touch with any relatives who married while your gran was alive, that might have her lurking in an old wedding photo?  Grans usually always get invited to weddings... and usually go.

Unfortunately no other relatives that I know of apart from my sister and 2 cousins that we are not in contact with 😓

I have recently taken an ancestry DNA test and hope one day a relative pops up, I'd say 90% of my matches are from my mums side of the family and some of the few that are paternal I have no clue as we never knew who my dads father was.

Everyone on rootschat is so kind, thanks so much for having a go at the photo!

My try, though I made a real pig's ear of this one  :(. Without realising it, I cropped out the "Cowgate" street sign (which was probably the whole point of the taking the photo!) and half the window set into the wall.

Anyway, here are two versions: one with the street sign cropped out and one with it pasted back in completely the wrong place! Luckily, you have other restores too!

Mike

Hi
My grandmother was a Linkston also - Elizabeth Aitken Watson Linkston b. 1884. There are so few I am sure we must be related!
Do you want to compare notes to see if we can find a link?
