Ordering birth certificate

Hi
Im a first time user. Hope Im doing this right
I have a christening for Charlotte Thompson on 17th May 1846 at St Mary Spital Square Church
Tower Hamlets and or Spitalfields. Cant find birth entry in Freebmd or GRO to order certificate.
Can you advise anywhere else to look.

Mother's maiden surname: PAUL     
GRO Reference: 1846  J Quarter in THE WHITECHAPEL UNION  Volume 02  Page 600

Richard THOMPSON married Sarah PAUL in 1829.

Using FreeBMD......if you use the details found by Dundee and click on Whitechapel a window will open listing all the areas covered by that Registration district;  Spitalfields is in the list.
Howard , Viney , Kingsman, Pain/e, Rainer/ Rayner, Barham, George, Wakeling (Catherine), Vicary (Frederick)   all LDN area/suburbs  Ottley/ MDX,
Henman/ KNT   Gandy/LDN before 1830  Burgess/LDN

Wow!! Thank you everyone for your quick and informative replies.
 
Didn't realize you could use the baptism date for a birth certificate and it really helps if you know your
districts. Happy now and have ordered certificate. I have also found her sister Mary (unfortunately not brother Richard) with same Mum.  Was so scared I wouldn't follow the correct line.

Just one more question if I may. How do you prove ancestors prior to 1837 when there are no birth certificates and census. Do you need to go and check microfilms.

Parish registers and Wills can help you track back before 1837; just remember not everyone stayed in the same area!

There is also another daughter Elizabeth born c. 1834/5 married Charles W Benfield 13/8/1855 st Mary Spital Square
