Nothing on the 1855 or 1885 VRs for Thomas. When did he die?  Maybe check for sons in 1885.

They were all deceased by 1878

Thomas died at Well Street 14 December 1871.

his son James FORSYTH  died 21 August 1869 (Well Street)

his son  Adam Forsyth  died  6 June 1875 (Well Street)

Agnes FORSYTH  Thomas's wife died Castle Street March 1878

James - T/O House, Shop etc, Well St, 1868. In 1868 it also includes a garden.
Mrs Forsyth P/O  Dwelling House, Shop and Garden, Well street 1872- 1875. Also a P of Dwelling House in Well Street 1872-75. Wonder if there were 2 houses.

Add - Mrs Forsyth becomes Agnes Forsyth in the 1875 VR  :D

You are good Gadget. I am just on the VR's very interesting. Does look as if Thomas stopped being Proprietor in 1865.

James died 1869 a year after he was T/O

There may well have been two houses.
