Italian Translation of 1841 Document

Looking for help with the translation of a hand-written Italian document which I believe records the birth of Louis Guiseppe Rolleri in 1841 near Parma, Italy.

Any help or pointers would be most welcome.

Act 44

This is by no means perfect, I am unsure of the spelling of geographical names.


The year 1800 (it I believe they’ve used “I” for “one”, 1801, but you say it’s 1841, although I can’t see [/i]in the written out date), on March 22, in my presence, Podestà of the county of Badonia, Commissioner of Borgotaro, Duchy of Varma,
appeared Rolleri Francesco, age 44, labourer, living in ?llica, who declared that on the
19th of the current month of March, at 7:00 AM, was born to Draghi Angela, his wife, a son who was given the names Giuseppe Luigi.  The declaration was made in the presence
of Cappellini Giacomo, age 58, labourer living in Monti di Badonia and Pantaleoni
Pasquale, age 62, organist, living in Badonia.  According to the law, having read the declaration, only Pantaleoni signed, the others declaring not being able to write.

The individual this document relates to, we believe (from other sources in Eire) was born in Illica in the Bedonia province of Parma, and your translation lends support for this. His age at death in Dublin 1926 suggests a birth year of around 1841.

The attached photo is the gent in question.

It begins "the year one thousand eight hundred I " then in the margin is " I quarantuno".  So the clerk omitted the "forty one" part and wrote it in later.

Aha, that explains it perfectly. I see how the "I" mark in the body of text refers to the "I" mark in the margin, as we would use an "*".
