James Smyth Bradley
« on: Friday 29 June 18 16:20 BST (UK) »
I am struggling to find information on a relative James Smyth Bradley who signed up for WW1 he was born in Belfast 24th March 1892. Residing at 111 Ormeau Road Belfast at time of enlistment. Parents were Elizabeth and Patrick Bradley.

I have seen newspaper snippets with him listed as Lance Corporal J Bradley 16th (Irish) N.W. Cyclist Corps at G Hospital Rouea? having been wounded in leg. Then another paper snippet referring to him being killed (no details) but part of Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

I would love to get some definite answers on when where he died etc

The hospital was at Rouen. I'll take a look to see what else there is.
OK 2 James Bradley's (no middle name) LNLR. 1 a Pte. so not him, the other an A/Sgt. with mother Elizabeth. Is this him. Died April 1917.
OK (again) his medal roll indicates previously in the 16(Irish)/Div. Cyclist Coy.

Hi Jim

Do you have any details on the J Bradley that died in April 1917 - is there anyway to confirm it was correct person by their address - 111 Ormeau Rd Belfast or date of birth as these are the only two pieces of concrete support i have ( as well as his full name and that of parents).

Any help would be great - thanks Jim.

Mother's name Elizabeth. That's all so far. I'm looking for more details but it seems it's him as he's the only NCO with that name & his previous Coy was the Cyclists.

His address is given as just Belfast. No DOB.
Unfortunately around 60% of WW1 service records were destroyed in the Blitz and this man's is one of them. Taking what there is into account I would say it's definitely him.

It is him. I found a memorial to him which gives middle name Smyth.
1901 census gives Patrick & Elizabeth as parents.
