I may be wrong but it looks as though there's an 'o' tucked inside the bottom of the 'S' in what looks to be Soloman or is it wishful thinking?

Compared with the 'S' in Sutton.

Could be, Although I thought the first letter look very similar to the 'S' in Sutton.

There is an Eleanor Sutton bapt 1809 St Margarets, Leicester along with her twin sister Rachel. Daughters of Jas/James Sutton and Mary.

Just looked at the image online. It could be a female as the other witness was a Dan and when looked at at normal size it does look like Slinar.

I prefer to see images the way they are & enlarge them myself if need be...

Gadget, do you think this may be Selina depending on how it was pronounced?

Did the witness sign or was it written on their behalf, just seems odd (spelling) if signed by the actual witness?

Looks like Slenar - could it be Selina? Spelt how it is said - did she sign it or was it written in by the vicar?
