Ann Gunn
« on: Saturday 30 June 18 07:15 BST (UK) »
Ann Gunn married Alexander Keard( B. Aberdeen approx. 1805) in Aberdeen 8/3/1826. He was in the Royal Artillery abroad and also Woolwich barracks. Her father was John Gunn and her birth is said to be Scotland 1806 but I can't find her mothers maiden name and wonder if she was born in London. Alexander and Ann had 3 children all born Woolwich the youngest daughter named after his mother the elder one named Ann Campbell Keard and I wonder if she was named after Ann Gunns mother. There is a death of Ann Campbell Keard Mar.qtr. 1889 West Ham but this can't be a daughter as she was aged 82. Please can anyone help me with this. Thanks.

Had been following your separate post re. Anne Gunn and spotted this new post.

Post Office Directories https://www.nls.uk/family-history/directories/post-offfice/

The 1825/26 Directory has 3 John Gunns residing Aberdeen.

The only Keard is Alexander, music teacher.

More birth/baptism found
Ann Campbell Keard born 2 July 1835 (previously posted)
James Robert Keard baptized 6 April 1838 Portsmouth Hampshire, no birth date listed
Isabella Lumsden Keard born 12 April 1840 bap 12 July 1840 Woolwich Kent
Elizabeth Gunn Keard born 8 January 1843, baptized 19 March 1843  ditto
Rachel Duncan born 21 May 1845, baptized 20 July 1845               ditto
Alexandrina baptised  16 May 1848 St Thomas Stepney. No birth date listed, father is now a clerk, address 46 Green Street Stepney.

Elizabeth may be the one who is named for her mother, or just carrying on the Gunn name.

There is also a Lumsden and a Duncan name that must fit somewhere perhaps the maiden names of both their mothers.

Hello
Just a few thoughts
"There is a death of Ann Campbell Keard Mar.qtr. 1889 West Ham but this can't be a daughter as she was aged 82. "
Surely this is Ann Gunn born 1806/1808 depending on what census you look at.
If we go by Scottish naming patterns then yes the eldest daughter would be named after her mother. So that would fit.
In theory the second would be after her mother and the third the paternal grandmother.

In Aberdeen there is a couple John Gunn and Ann Campbell having children at Aberdeen around the right time.
William 20.12.1801,Christian 24.2.1807,John 10.5.1810 and Mary 28.10.1811
Just wondering if Ann couldn't fit in there somewhere?
Between 1801 and 1807 there is quite a gap.

Is the William Gunn who also married at Aberdeen North Church 24.5.1823 to Louisa McBain a brother?

Thanks everyone for your replies, it's much appreciated.  Isabella Lumsden Keard was named after her fathers mother Isabell Lumsden .
