Yiddish translation needed
« on: Saturday 30 June 18 15:21 BST (UK) »
Hi all
I have a number of photos and postcards which are written in Yiddish (maybe Hebrew) cursive. - I'm putting them up individually over time so that I can close the thread when ready.

This one, is a post card which would have been sent in early 1900s from relatives in Amsterdam to my Great Grandfather in London.
I know that these good people all came to an untimely and unhappy end during WW2 but I would love to know what the card reads.

thanks
Keith

Hello Keith,

I think your only realistic chance of getting this text translated is via JewishGen. You can upload it to ViewMate https://www.jewishgen.org/ViewMate/

You should also post the Warsaw marriage record in Russian to ViewMate.

Did you see my translation of the Hebrew text?

Justin

Hi Keith,

It takes two days, at the most, to get a translation request approved on ViewMate.

A Russian colleague of mine is going to take a look at the Warsaw marriage record. Watch this space! I have seen that you already have a complete translation. Shame. I think my colleague was looking forward to having a go.

Cheers, Justin

Thanks Justin.

Still going though stuff and trying to get cards translated. I’ve put one use on the viewmate space.

Yes I have a translation on the Russian script - shame I don’t know enough about early Russian custom to work out if the person is the same woman or not!

Need to invent time travel!

Cheers
Keith
