I saw that but the name Reay was spelt Reah and although I was 90 percent certain it was the same family the misspelling always makes me a bit careful as I have been stung before.

I agree, but the point I was making was that the record you referred to shows that Mable was a widow in 1834.  :)

I went through the Tynemouth parish records pre 1834 trying to find any children but no luck and a death of Reay. No luck.
I knew he had to pass sometime between 1800(his marriage) and 1834 as  his wife Mabel dies in Tynemouth and is  buried there in 1834 and the death notice says she was a widow of Reah Johnson master mariner.

That does not mean it was not there but I did not see it .   Is there a possibility he was not buried in the same place as his wife.
As to children if the couple  lived in Tynemouth I would guess they did not have any children during their marriage.

It was a experience going through the Tynemouth  transcriptions on the LDS sites.   It only took me since last June to finish.   :)

Given he was a master mariner and went to sea he may have died at sea, and buried at sea.  You have no idea how many unidentified men were buried in various coastal parishes who washed up on shore.
