Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Thanks for the Dunleckney link.

The baptisms from St Andrews, Dunleckney Parish, Bagnelstown, Carlow: Michael 24 April 1841; James 16 July 1843; Thomas 21 September 1845; Michael 7 November 1852; Margaret 24 June 1855; John 9 May 1858 TBC (this one was found by a member in another group - parents noted as James Wholohan and Anne Devereaux).

Re the marriage on 22 May 1840. It took place at St Andrews Westland Row, Dublin. A member in another group also found a baptismal entry for A. Maria Derinzey 1825 St Mary's Pro-Cathedral, Dublin. No idea if this is Ann and it would make her very young for the marriage but not unprecedented.

Griffiths Valuation shows a James Holohan in Kilcarrig St Bagnelstown in 1853.

That about exhausts my knowledge of the family except Thomas who I know quite a bit about  :)

MMmmm looks like Cunaghan to me
https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634457#page/91/mode/1up
although I guess the sort of F shape after John could be part of the first letter of the surname making it a H
the others might be clearer.

James is unreadable

Thomas

Thanks Sinann :) I go nearly blind reading these pages !! I'm not sure about the John either but have him in my tree as a TBC so I don't lose the info. One day into the future and all that :)

There were also lots of Derenzy folk in nearby Co. Wexford, particularly around Bunclody (formerly known as Newtownbarry).   See link:-

https://www.ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/bunclodyunionindex.pdf

Bunclody is only ~20 km from Bagenalstown as the crow flies (and Dunleckny looks around 12-15 km depending on which part of the parish they inhabited).

Thanks eadaoin. Not far at all. Looking at the names I wonder if some of them were from the family associated with Clobemon Hall. I've also gone through some records from the Ferns parish as there were a few Darenzys there so some evident clusters of the name in Wexford. My cousin is certainly of the view that Ann's family came from Wexford (not sure about Ann) and she has been researching her for over 30 years (not that she has found anything additional). I see a Thomas Derenzy there in the list (just keeping in mind naming conventions to see if there are any links).
