Wendy

The Welsh newspapers are accessible to anyone on llgc.org.uk However, I have searched for "Ellen Jones" for March and April in 1876 and can find no obituary.

i think I have about recovered from the penalty shootout.

dcbnwh's contribution has convinced me that Ann Potter is the mother since the aunt Laura Evans he mentions from the 1861 Census is Evan's younger sister Laura Jones found at Glanymorfa in the 1851 Census. She married John Evans a quarryman from Brynhyfrd, Llanrug in Llanarmon in 1853.

David & Glyn,

Ellen is with her grand-parents in 1861 ( from Wendy's post #1 )

Hi Ray

It was a typo error on my behalf which I have now corrected. I think I have a fixation on John Jones's since I have come across so many in my family tree. Laura's marriage details were taken from yffor.com.
The 1861 Census that David and I were referring to was the one in Llanberis where Ellen's older sister Sydney (born in Hitchin 1851) was living with her aunt and uncle. Laura being Evan's younger sister.

This is the family in 1861 - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M725-HVN

and 1871 - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V515-HXR

Given the birth place of Laura, I am not sure that she was Evan's sister.

David
