The word is probably:  Glaser

However, I would like to see other examples of G and s in this hand.

Also, is it an occupation - Glazier or Glass maker (as suggested) - or is it the surname and he is Thomas King GLASER?

More of the surrounding entries would be useful.

ADDED:

That is, s in mid-word positions.

I don't know, but as others have asked, I'd say it is his surname. King is his middle name.  Did any others in that register put an occupation? I don't think it was common back then - entries were just names and dates... ditto with whether it's his village/parish ... did others have any?

I can't decide if the first letter is a G or an S.

Both freereg.org.uk and a 1909 book on "Leicestershire parish registers - Marriages" have transcribed the entry as 'Glazier' (occupation). As far as I can tell, these 2 transcriptions were done independently.

I'm inclined to agree with StanleyChesterton that it is  his surname Glaser/Glazer  not much to compare handwriting with.

Did the profession of glazier/glazer even exist as such in 1718?  ???

My first thought was a badly-written "Glasgow"...

Do you have baptisms for any children of the marriage? Are they as Gla[s/z]er or King?

Did any others in that register put an occupation?
Each clerk had his own format so this is worth looking into.
