Ancestry have just answered my query on Facebook. They have a problem which they hope to fix by this afternoon making it a three and a half day offer.

They'll probably be a class action case in the US resulting in $10 billion compensation for those affected by the loss of half a day's free access.

Julie says sorry but she trapped her button finger in the door this morning so won't be able to do the big push this afternoon.............. ;)
"Well, can't somebody else do it? Where's Julie's Manager?"
"Ah, Margaret.  She was made redundant last month"
"Well who is doing Margaret's old work?"
"Julie was told to do what she could until somebody officially took over the work.... but she didn't really have time."

I can't believe that they don't have the facility to make a very quick temporary banner announcement on their homepage explaining the problem, or at least that they know there is one.

No. Julie could put it up, but banners are designed by Mark - and he's off today.

Before seeing the 12:04 comment I spoke to Ancestry, after 12:04, and yet they told me it would be available by 3pm.  So they gave me out of date information.  I also mentioned getting a home page announcement, and the support man said he'd already suggested it.

Julie forgot to sign in, so the support team weren't updated about developments.
