Hello all, I've not done any FH research for a while and today went back to it but I'm having problems with the Family History Site (Mormon). It used to be very easy but try as I might I cannot get in, has it changed in some way?

As of earlier this year you need to register, for free.

Thanks Martin, yes I did try that but it kept coming up 'specify your birthdate' which I had done and I couldn't get any further. Not having a good day at all  , but thanks anyway.

Are you sure that you are entering it in the correct format, and in full?  Does the year need to be 4 digits?  Is the month 2 digits, or words or from a drop-down list.

I've just had a look.  Are you entering the drop-down date as Month-Day-Year?  Are you selecting a gender option?

Yes there is are drop down lists from which I selected the month/day/year USA mode, but it won't accept it and I entered the gender, don't know what else to do.

Do you see details like my picture below?  I can type any thing as a name, select any date, any gender then I click on CONTINUE.  The screen then changes and you are asked for email details etc.

I had problems accessing Family Search recently because of my browser. I had notice of this for months at the top of the page but I ignored it. One day the page would not load properly and I couldn't use it so I installed one of the suggested browsers, Mozilla Firefox, it works fine now.

Yes , me too, can access it on Google Chrome but not Internet Explorer.

That's just what I've got Martin and after I've filled it in and pressed continue the birth date section turns pink and comes up 'specify your birthdate'. I must be doing something wrong but I can't think what so I'm going to give up tonight and try again tomorrow. Thanks for trying to help.

 Just read your reply Blue think that might be the problem, I've got he same message will look at it tomorrow.
