These maps show two different places

This site re the parish of Applecross lists an Ardoch (house and grounds) https://saintsplaces.gla.ac.uk/place.php?id=457
This map marks the vicinity of the village of Applecross itself.

is at Kishorn, on the other side of the Bealach na Ba.

The description in the saints places web site makes it fairly clear that Ardoch is east of the River Kishorn, in the part of the parish which was transferred to the parish of Lochcarron during the reforms of 1890-ish. So it will be the one in the second map http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16&lat=57.3975&lon=-5.5953&layers=6&b=1

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

It may not seem of relevance when people (in general) are looking for places but forenames & dates can help significantly too if known.

As mentioned in my last post, forenames/dates, from the Valuation Rolls this is the earliest connection I found on the VRs (Valuation Rolls) on SP (scotlandspeople) although I don't know what era you're looking at regarding forenames?

STUART JOHN - THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR Proprietor
LAND ARDOCH, APPLECROSS
1874

MACKENZIE MURDO Occupier

I stand corrected, should have provided more info.
Am interested in John MacKenzie b. 1787 Ardoch

married Margaret Matheson 1779-99

then Margaret Robinson
children Ann, Simon, Mary, Catherine,Bell, Elizabeth and George 1816-1872 my direct ancestor who worked on the railways in Nantwich/Crewe. After his death some of the family returned to Edinburgh (of which I have put together a small amount of info.)

However I would appreciate any help to go further back beyond John. I thought at one time I had found his parents but got it wrong!

There's no marriage of a John MacKenzie and a Margaret Matheson in Ross and Cromarty between 1800 and 1830 that I can see on Scotlandspeople.

Applecross parish birth records only go back to 1805.

the marriage after 1800 would be MacKenzie/Robertson

is there any family History expert/society specialising in the area?

Nothing on SP with these surnames anywhere in Ross and Cromarty 1800-30
