CWGC Appeal for relatives of Col John Hyndman Howell-Jones

CWGC wish to make contact with any family members of Colonel John Hyndman Howell-Jones known as Jack and born c1878 British Guiana.
John married Florence Severne - registered September 1905 - St George Hanover Sq (1a 978) and they had a son, Edmund.

The Howell-Jones family in British Guiana

Mary Hemery was born in 1856 in Arundel, Sussex. She was married in December 1876 in Canterbury to Benjamin Howell-Jones born c1849 British Guiana. They had four children, John Hyndman Howell-Jones known as Jack, born c1878 British Guiana, Leonora Mary Howell-Jones born c1880 British Guiana, Katie Millicent Howell-Jones and Christian Howell-Jones born c1882 British Guiana...................etc etc..................

There is a French photo postcard of sisterKatie Howell Jones in fancy dress at Christmas 1916 in the Windsor Hotel Paris Plage – where she was a cook in a Red Cross billet for about 50 nurses and VADs, during the First World War.

In later life she lived at Kew Cottage, 110 Shortheath Road, Farnham, Surrey. She died about 1970 and was buried near Farnham.

Leonora Howell Jones became an Anglican nun, being known as Sister Leonora.

England, Andrews Newspaper Index Cards, 1790-1976 for Florence Howell Jones

On July 30th 1947 very suddenly Florence wife of the late Col J Howell Jones C I E  D S O and eldest daughter of Edmund Severne of Thenford Northants and Wallop Shropshire

No indication on probate record of the son Edmund.
