According to the document I am viewing it is shown he died on 15 May 1897 at ?Col Hospital....but why on a convict database.  Perhaps the heading is incorrect.  All the deaths were in hospitals.  Wonder if it is something to do with the Coroner's Office - an inquest perhaps.  Quite strange really.

Ah yes, my mistake.  I misread the type on the death notice.

I think the database has been named incorrectly.  Really don't know what it should be. Research many years ago led me to the East Perth Cemeteries seeking the burial place of an relative who had died in 1896 of typhoid only a short period after he arrived in Perth to take up the position of Government Surveyor.

Gosh no wonder we have problems finding records....was recorded as John JONES, 54.

I've searched the old Parish Registers in Scotland and I cannot find a birth for that name in the era.  Need his marriage certificate to find his parents' names and let's hope he was honest with his details.  Wonder if his mother's maiden name was Irwin
