Methodist Minister Amlwch/Trefdraeth resources?
« on: Monday 09 July 18 19:47 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

A friend living on Anglesey talked with a Methodist Minister (who serves the area we are looking in) about my 5X Great Grandfather, Emanuel Evans.  Trying to find record of which chapels he served in.  I know he was in Amlwch, then possibly Bethel Chapel in Bodorgan, and then ministered at his home, Tyn Llwyn, in Trefdraeth.  The minister recommended a book called "The history of Methodists in Wales", by William Roberts, but said it is a rare book.  Have any of you run across this book or know where I can look?  I did a search in the National Library of Wales (no luck), and have sent an email to the Anglesey Archives, and am awaiting a response from them.

Any other suggestions for resources I should check that would show non-conformist Ministers on Anglesey from the late 1700's and early 1800's

There is a copy of the History of Methodism in Wales by John Hughes online, in 3 volumes, but it is in Welsh. I've had a quick serach and not come across yor Emanuel Evans. These volumes look at history up to 1850. Approximately what year are you looking at ?
