Transportation
« on: Tuesday 10 July 18 09:59 BST (UK) »
Have found a record for a family member (from 1833) who was transported to Australia for 14 years for a military crimes.  The first crime was desertion but I just can't make out the second crime - hoping a rootschat member can pick it up.  The family member is Robert Foot, shown just below John Robertson who was transported for the same crimes.

It may well be "and losing necessaries".  Necessaries were what a soldier's kit was called in those far off days and men who deserted would be charged additionally with the loss  of the kit they had been issued with (which they had often sold).

The shorthand of the period shortens the "ing" as in "threatening" above and the
last word has the double s character plus another s so necessaries would seem to fit.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.
