1861 census, Halling Kent
« on: Tuesday 10 July 18 14:29 BST (UK) »
Could someone look at this census for me and tell me what Richard Hook's occupation is, please?

He's Richard Hook, b 1830, Rotherfield, Sussex (with Irish-born wife, Mary Ann, and several children all b. Halling).

Unfortunately, he was buried on 19 May 1861, so doesn't appear on any later census records.  On the 1851 census he's listed as an "Ag Lab", but I can't make the squiggles from 1861 into any version of the same thing.

Thanks

Looks like "something" labourer ...  :-\

(I see I am thinking along the same lines) :)

Added: on page 17 does Henry Barr(?) have the same occupation?  :-\ (it seems clearer but I still can't quite work out what it is)
