As per title, I have a grandfather whom I have discovered was seconded from the South African Army to the  British Army in WW2 - will the MOD also have a record of his service from the time of his secondment onwards?   I assume they will, as he was awarded an Efficiency Medal and the British War Medal as well as the medals generally awarded to South African forces during WW2.   Just wondered if it was worth paying up the MOD's £30 fee plus all the red tape involved and waiting for the next 6 months to see if there is any info about his service - he was a commissioned officer, a Captain.
