Newfield Durham
« on: Tuesday 10 July 18 23:26 BST (UK) »
Hi I’m looking for records of burials at Newfield Co Durham. Years ago my nana told me she had a sister who died aged about 1. My nana passed in 1992 aged 85 and I would love to find this little girl. Her second name was Wilson she died around 1903-1011 Her parents were George Sayers Wilson and Ethel Wilson (Dobinson) x

Thank you both so much for the reply. Carole you are amazing. Wow I joined Ancestry UK to search for her ( and other relatives on my nanas side) with zero information about the little girl. I am absolutely over the moon. I am going to visit  Newfield this weekend to pay my respects to a little girl that hasn’t been forgotten 113 years later. Many thanks. Can I was you where you found the information at?

Many thanks

Amanda

Hi

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp  allows you to search using mothers maiden name so I looked for Wilson births from 1905 (marriage year) to 1911 and they were the only female ones found

I then used www.freebmd.org.uk to search for her death

Depending on the families financial circumstances at that time - she may not be in a private grave so you may want to check with the cemetary records first before you visit as she may be buried in a public grave

Thank you again Carole. I know May definitely has a headstone but I wasn’t quite sure if she was buried in Newfield or Byers Green .
I’ve signed up to the web sites x thank you so much amanda
