JAMES AND CHRISTINA STRACHAN
« on: Wednesday 11 July 18 10:02 BST (UK) »
Ive posted many times on the boards before in my quest to discover my ancestors.

One brick wall I have always had until yesterday was my great, great , great grandfather James Strachan.

The answer has been there all the time and it took membership of findmypast to discover this vital clue.

A James Strachan (aged 30) is listed on the 1841 census living at New Wynd, Lanarkshire with 'wife' Christina (aged 30)  and daughter anna (aged 4) and son william (aged 2)

The issue I have is that neither of the 4 appear in any other records on findmypast or scotlands people.

Did they simply leave Scotland?

Can anyone help me discover anything more about this family?

Thanks in advance
Paul

Presumably this was in Glasgow which was in Lanarkshire at that time, the New Wynd still exists near the Bridge Gate (Briggate) but much altered.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
