It would be baptism records, not birth records at that era.

What was the child's name?
Know anything at all about the family in later census?
Any military connections?

Find my past has a record for William Robison born Jamaica, birth year 1830
merchant Seamen 1835 - 1857

What information did the record reveal?

Pauline

His father was a cabinet maker
Thomas Robison
I am looking for William Robison he eventually became a mariner himself
All I have is either 1827 or 1829 British subject

I'm asking what information was in the merchant seamen records.
Did you purchase/look at it?
