OK. The man on the right is wearing the 1908 pattern tunic which was in use up to the end of 1915. 1916 saw the introduction of the economy tunic pretty much the same but with a noticeable difference.
Someone enlisting 1917-18 wouldn't have worn this tunic.

Thanks Jim
I attended a family event yesterday my Aunt said my Granddad had started off in the Home Guard.
Do either of the uniforms match up to that?

These are both c. WW1 uniforms. Home Guard was WW2.

There were older or more infirm men who's duties were to protect vital services but they were still Army.
These 2 are young men are therefore highly unlikely to serve with them.

The Volunteer Training Corps is about as close as you will get to any kind of "home guard".
They wore civilian clothes with an armband. Later they had uniforms which were grey or green worn with the armband.
Completely different to these men.

I suppose my Aunt may of got confused, Maybe my Granddad was in the Home Guard in WW2 he would of been 40 years old in 1939.
Living in Leintwardine Herefordshire with My Gran and with 5 children and another on the way.
