She married George Petty  22nd October  1843  Weston All Saints Bath
On her marriage cert ( its a copy) states her father name is James Bates.
Also on the download of her marriage there are two names  Charlotte Watts and Charlotte Bates.

Perry or Petty?  Both 1851 and 1861 have her as Perry as does the 1843 marriage on freebmd

What mmn is on the childrens births?

Could she have been born illegitimate as Watts but knew her biological father was James Bates?

Did her mother marry a James Bates after Charlotte's birth and he was her stepfather

What name is she under on the 1841 - Watts or Bates?

Do you have her marriage cert please? Although she was only young -- was she a spinster or a widow when she married George Petty?

The '51 Census has a Mary Ann Perry, age 3 and James Perry, age 1, both born Bicknoller, with parents George and Charlotte. Bicknoller falls within the Registration district of Williton.

The GRO has birth registrations, Williton, for a James Perry, Dec Qtr 1849 and Mary Ann Perry, Mar Qtr 1848 - both with mother's maiden name Bailey

The baptism records (filmed) for West Quantoxhead are on the Ancestry site -- there is a baptism for a Charlotte 'Baily', daughter of Henry and Rebecca on 27 Aug 1826.

However that doesn't fit with the father's name on the marriage. Although fits the maiden name on children's births found by Hanes Teulu.

I can't see any baptisms for a Charlotte Watts or Bates with a father James (although there are 2 Charlotte Watts baptised around the right time - not in the right place and not with father James.

Might be worth looking for a Bailey marrying a Watts or Bates (where is Miss Marple when you need her!)

I can't find the family in 1851 but they are in Weston in 1861, 1871 and 1881. The references are
1861 RG09/1696/F69/p9
1871 RG10/2497/F10/p11
1881 RG11/2443/F78/p8

I have checked the children against the GRO site and they all have mmn Watts

The Watts / Perry marriage is on familysearch and gives her father as James Watts and his as Robert Perry.

In all Censuses she gives yob as 1820 and the only Charlotte Watts I can find was baptised Walcot 23 April 1820, parents James and Frances.

I do appreciate that in the Census she gives her birthplace as Weston but I don't think you have to be born in the place you are baptised.
