Hi,
Does anybody know where Hafod Tal ddu was in Dolwyddelan Parish? I cant find it on any

It comes up twice
1) Jane Thomas -  baptism 6 June 1813 - Hafod Tal ddu - Dolwyddelan

and a different side

2) Owen Cadwalader - 20 Feb 1791 - Hafod Tal du - Dolwyddelan

Owen Cadwalader's family found at # 108, # 124 in Ceiri Griffith.
He was the grandfather of Richard Griffith's (Carneddog: Journalis, historian and poet) wife.

I can see (FindMyPast image/transcription) three Thomas baptisms, Dolwyddelan -

6 Jun 1813, dau of John and Ann Thomas, abode  Havodtalddu, occpn farmer
24 Mar 1815, Anne, daughter of John Thomas and Ann Roberts, abode  Havod=Talddu, occpn labourer
May 19th 1811, Dorothy, dau'r of John Thomas, Havod=talddu

(= symbol used on register where name continued on next line)

Checked for a marriage for John and Anne in that area - drew a blank.

Have you checked "Welsh Tithe Maps"?  https://places.library.wales

Thanks for the replies, yes I have Ceiri Griffiths book, the Cadwaladers where from Coytmor, Dolwyddelan,( I belive it is Coed Mawr, Roman bridge today).
Owen Cadwaladers father is down in the book as lived at Cae Du and Hafod Tal du
b.20.11.1760 (Dolwyddelan). There is a Cae du between Betws and Dolwyddelan I dont know if
it was that Cae Du, Im just curious where Hafod Tal Ddu was, its probably long been a ruin.

Thanks for listing the baptisms for John and Ann Thomas, I have seen thease, I have not gone
any further on this side with John and Ann Thomas from Dolwyddelan, their daughter Jane Thomas
moved to Bethesda and married William Griffith my third Grandfather

I was able to find a number of "abodes" listed in the parish register on the same page as the "Havodtalddu" entries, on an old map on Welsh Tithes - but not Hafodtalddu (or similar).

Thanks for looking, it must have been a ruin for quite some time, that there is no mention of it
on the tithe maps
