Marriage of James Hills and Sarah Brooks
« on: Friday 13 July 18 20:01 BST (UK) »
Wondering if anyone could please help me with the Marriage of James Hills and Sarah Brooks who I know was married in 1870 in Essex. Cannot find the parish they were married in. There daughter Elizabeth Hills was babtised in Sible Hedingham on the 11th of June 1786. I have a subscription for Seax and have searched around that area but cannot find anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you certain of Sarah's surname? Have found this one:

James Hills & Sarah Barker m. 15 Aug 1784, Sible Hedingham (Witnesses John Dains & Ann Barker)

I can see the marriage you are referring to on familysearch but nowhere else. However Boyds Marriage Index has a James Hills marrying a Sarah Barker in 1784 in Sible Hedingham, whilst FreeReg has his name as James Halls and familysearch and the Essex Marriage  Index give it as Hillos.

In the FreeReg entry the notes say SEAX D-P 93-1-6 if that means anything.

Are you certain of Sarah's surname? Have found this one:

James Hills & Sarah Barker m. 15 Aug 1784, Sible Hedingham (Witnesses John Dains & Ann Barker)

John Daines was a witness to numerous marriages so probably not related.

In the FreeReg entry the notes say SEAX D-P 93-1-6 if that means anything.

The SEAX reference is the Essex Archives reference.
