Brady with Parr Marriage
« on: Saturday 14 July 18 08:28 BST (UK) »
It is recorded in our family history (1908) " My father on the day of his marriage, which took place on August 16 1831 at Romford,  commenced to drive in his gig to Woolley Park near Wakefield to take up a situation as resident agent and farm manager to ..." . The father referred to was Charles Robert Brady (b. Orford 1795), who had been residing in Essex for some time, and his spouse was Anne Parr (b. 1806), daughter of George Parr, surgeon, of Writtle. Subsequent records, at Woolley and Stockport, particularly censuses refer to this union. However, I am unable to find doc. evidence of the actual marriage.  I have not found a way of accessing Boyd's marriages, which might give a clue.

Anne's sister was married in London, and it is possible that the chronicler got the story wrong and Anne too went to London to wed, though this seems to be going the wrong way to get to Woolley!

Any suggestions, please, anyone?

Thanks for this.  I have found one source that says Geo.W.Parr , which would have been Anne's brother. If it was George Parr, then probably her father. Maria Jane was her sister.

NannyJ.

I never found a wife for William Lake Parr.  You may find this family a little confusing. Sarah Lake's husband Geo Parr did not live long and she remarried, to Charles Long (Senior), by whom she begat further children, some with an interesting background in Australia. When Charles died she came to live with daughter Anne and her husband Charles Robert Brady in Stockport.

Looking at your interests in Dublin, I wonder if your interest in the Parrs/Lakes has anything to do with Elizabeth Ryan? I have some family commentary on this liaison, but I would need to send you information off-forum.
