That is interesting, surely they are already married aren't they ??, almost the last thing they do is to sign before smiling for the camera

I don’t know - are they actually married (in the eyes of the church and/or state) at the moment the minister pronounces them so, or at the moment when both parties and at least two witnesses have signed the register?

If the latter, presumably even after “I pronounce them husband and wife” there is still a brief opportunity for one or both to withdraw consent/leave/drop dead at the altar in an unmarried condition?

Hello. I have obtained the 1907 marriage certificate. It says the fathers were Wolf Jolles, tailor and William Hicks, contractor. Annie was living at 98 Stanhope St and Adolf on Robert St both streets between Euston Station and Regents Park. Witnesses were London couple Henry and Marie Pavey. I have looked at all Annie Hicks born in Yorkshire father William, with no luck so far!

Have you traced the Pavey couple to see what Marie's maiden name was, and generally whether they might be a clue to Annie's origins?
