www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com

I have had trouble getting into this, the last couple of days.   Perhaps it is me, and not the site?

Cheers

Checked it again AND it does not respond  ::)

Looking at Task Manager when it happens, it always appears to be Desktop Windows Manager using huge amounts of CPU time?!
I heard a rumour that Microsoft "tweaked" DWM under Windows 7 to be less efficient, in order to "persuade" people to Windows 10?

No. The Windows 10 one is just as bad. It can hog a whole processor for minutes at a time, while no useful processing is being done.

The "website not responding" problem seems to appear whichever browser is in use. It's probably related to the huge number of ads shoved at us these days. Most of them have some sort of associated script which has to be interpreted by the browser, and a large proportion are horribly inefficient.

Once I have reached the announcement (the last time was yesterday), it's time to close down every mention of the browser and start again. The quickest way is to save any open documents and do Shutdown - Restart. This never fails to get me control again.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.
