Spry Owen was born in 1839 in Maryland USA and died 21st November 1913 in Philadelphia. His parents were John Owen and Elizabeth Spry.
His siblings are as follows:
John b 1834 Maryland
Caroline b 1836 Pennsylvania
John b 1839 Pennsylvania (Did the first John die before this one was born?)
David b 1840 Pennsylvania
Wyatt b 1843 Maryland
Temarian b 1847 Pennsylvania (His odd name is known only from 1850 census and writing is difficult to read. Might be 'Jemorian'? If anyone has any thoughts on this, I would certainly be interested to hear them!)
In his will (dated 1909) Spry leaves money and possessions to his brother Wyatt and nephews William Owen and Nevitt Owen and Nevitt's wife -- both nephews, I have established, being sons of Wyatt. So far, so good!
However, Spry then goes on to leave money and possessions to his 'grand niece' Elizabeth Claytor and namesake Spry Owen Claytor -- both children of Randal and Nancie(?) Claytor, and then the residue of his estate to his niece, Mrs Nancie J Claytor (ie the children's mother). There is a Claytor tree on Ancestry which looks to me basically sound, but on this tree Nancy Claytor -- whose maiden name is Dukes -- is the daughter of James Enoch Duke and Martha Jane Mackey. So how then can this Nancy possibly be the niece of Spry Owen?
What am I missing?
Situation is not helped by how difficult it is to work up profiles of Spry's siblings, due to how common their names are.
Please help -- this is driving me crazy! And thank you for reading!
