If you type in Beckhill for the surname - Edward for the first name - choose male then birth year 1873 it should come up for you showing mothers maiden name Geen.

Doesn't mean the parents ever got married though.

Hi, thank you so much, didn't even dream about looking up beckhill, as beck is a middle name not part of their surname, it was Edward William beck hill's mothers surname. Thanks once again...off to order right birth certificate now, as I think I've ordered wrong one! Lol

No sign of a birth for Annie Miriam Geen either. There are a few plain Ann Geens in the 1840s and 1850s, all in Devon, none in 1848 or 49.

In the 1891 census she's Ann K Hill, born Tiverton and in 1901 she's back to Annie M, but birth place NK (= not known). In 1871 she was recorded as Annie M Geen, born Exeter. (A servant, visiting a household in Islington). Consistently born 1848/49 though.

In 1861 there is an Ann Geen age 12 b not known in the Brentford Workhouse in Isleworth.    With her is a Jno Geen  age 10 b also not known
