Help with deciphering this sentence.

Hi.

I have found a marriage entry for my 6x Great Grandparents in 1751. It stated that the husband was from Dysart in Fife and that the wife was Janet Rickie but I can't read the name of the parish she was from. So I was wondering if anyone could help to clarify this?

It looks like 'in Strethon' to me, but I can't find a current place with that name.  Could it be Straiton in Ayrshire??  Someone with more local knowledge will probably be more helpful

Could be written Strethorr or Strathorr. Possibly a variant spelling of Strathore.

I got another one for Janet Rickie's parents. Struggling to work out what the modern version could be for those towns in Fife where each parent lived in.

West Coaltown and Tillybreak, both listed in the parish of Markinch, are possibilities for these places. Is Markinch the parish that you're looking at?

West Coaltown is a farm almost four miles due north of Dysart (between the A92 road and the village of Coaltown of Balgonie).  Tullybreck is a farm, one & a half miles south-east of West Coaltown, on the south bank of the River Ore, and about three miles NNE of Dysart.

Yes I had a look at the link. Thanks. I wasn't sure which parishes the towns could be in so I didn't know where to look. Can you tell that I'm not from Fife?! haha.

I should have known they'd be farms- about 90% of my ancestors were farmers!
