Thank you matthewj64, can't see Cornelius there but it's interesting that Southern Eagle came from Liverpool. That is where a Cornelius Gibbons was in jail in 1851, maybe him, maybe not. ;D

You need to see this death certificate. It will ask for place of birth.

Hi Cornelius Gibbons is my great great grandfather & like you I seem to have drawn a blank on his origins. I have followed most of your leads also and have his death certificate which gives no clue to his birthplace. My mother who completed a lot of the family history & was her grandmother was Cornelius daughter, believed he had been born overseas, Ireland I think, which sort of fitted with the young boy in England as lots of Irish ended up in Liverpool but cant make the link. not sure where to look next. Any ideas?

Just curious as to whether any more has been dug up? Cornelius is my 2nd great grandfather I have heard that my mum's side were emigrants and my grandad's, Lawrence Gibbons were convicts?
