can anyone help please
« on: Wednesday 18 July 18 13:23 BST (UK) »
Hi, I have been helped on here researching my family and wondered if anyone could help again, I am looking for a George Sinclair Hall who lived in Manchester but we discovered he was actually born in Scotland. about 1885-86.
we have a birth registration for his sister Barbara born 1st April 1884linlithgow dalmeny  we assume George was born in the same place their parents were George  Hall and Elizabeth Sinclair married in November not sure if 1883 or 84. her mother was called Margaret could have been Gunn.
we have looked on ancestry .co that's where we got most of our info also on scotlands people as someone kindly looked on there for us, we have since registered with Scotlands people but haven't yet found anything that matches and  it could cost a lot of money to go through them all.its a long shot I know but hopefully someone more experienced than me could find something however small we would be very thank full.

Not seeing a Hall/Sinclair marriage that fits. Did this take place in Scotland?

Thats a good find Isobel - I have to say I did wonder if that was a possibility he would have been born after his sister Barbara
we have a birth registration for his sister Barbara born 1st April 1884 linlithgow dalmeny

If this is the correct death entry the dob matches the baptism record you have posted

George Sinclair Hall Death Age:   84
Birth Date:   3 Mar 1886
Jun 1970 Manchester Lancashire
Volume:   10e Page:   131

Edit ~ Sharl10

Did your George marry  Alice F Whaite in 1915?

From Lancashire BMD
HALL   George Sinclair
WHAITE   Alice Florence
1915 Chorlton-on-Medlock Register Office or Registrar Attended

Did they have a son born Sep qtr.1918?
Hall    John A    mmn Whait    Chorlton    8c   1180

Do you have the family on the 1891 census?

Can you give more details of George Hall & Elizabeth nee Sinclair's dau Barbara's 1884 birth/baptism

What was her father George's occupation?

When/Where did George Hall die as Elizabeth is a widow on 1901 census

In which case you have incorrect information. Barbara was born on 15 November 1884 and her parents claim to have been married on 1 April 1884. However there is no such marriage in the index at Scotland's People.

The subsequent registration of George as illegitimate suggests that the marriage never actually took place.
