Sorry if I am dim, do we really have every death record, not have been destroyed by the war in London? No page missing on registration of death around 1910s to 1920s?

You can view the scans of the GRO index on freebmd.  You should be able to establish if there is a page missing by looking either side of the entry you want

I don't believe any registration documents were lost during the war - don't forget GRO only have copies anyway, the originals are all held in local offices.

There are a few examples where entries seem to have been missed in the quarterly returns process, so never made it into the central records.

I can confirm that records don't always make it on to the main GRO lists.

I have a death certificate for a death which had been registered at the local registry office but never appeared on the main GRO listing.

If you can't locate a record on the GRO it is worth checking with the local registry office.

Were you searching for the death registration of a specific person? If that's the case you could post information you know on here and people could try to find it.
