WHELAN and the Duke of Manchester

Hello,
We have a bit of a mystery and brick wall and are hoping someone can help us.
Our ancestor, William WHELAN, is stated as being an "Inspector on the Duke of Manchester's Estates" in 1847 when he was a witness in court proceedings in Newry. At the time he stated he lived in Corrinshega, Killevy.
At his son's, William WHELAN's, marriage in 1852 to Mary BLACKHAM in Newry, his occupation is listed as an 'Inspector'.
So we are guessing that he worked on the Duke of Manchester's estates from at least 1847-1852. We are guessing this to be the Tandragee Castle Estates.
How would I find information on William WHELAN or the Duke of Manchester's Estates? Are there any other records which can be searched online for Newry?

Corrinshego (from Irish Cor-fhuinnseoige, meaning 'round hill of the ash tree')[1] is a townland in the Parish of Middle Killeavy, County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It lies 1.6km (1 mile) to the west of Newry in the Newry and Mourne District Council area.
Corrinshego stretches steeply up Camlough Mountain almost to the summit, with all of the area south of the Carrivekeeney Road inside the Ring of Gullion Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Got a notice of ejectment by Jno Whelan, Lord O'Neill's bailiff for the Randalstown mill concern, for non-payment of rent 1½ year due his Lordship at May last. I paid John Thompson half a year that he never paid to L[ord] O'N[eill]. It now appears that I am to lose the property after an expenditure of upwards of £3,500. The weather has been remarkably fine for the past month and an abundant crop will be saved. [26 Oct 1840]
