Hi

Deleted part. Another reply posted, while I was replying.

Because there is no Alfred A. ANDREW Birth 1890 to 1900 transcribed on Free BMD for England & Wales. (Although the Alfred A. ANDREW dying 1959, could be from outside England & Wales at Birth, or not transcribed properly)

In 1901 there is an Alfred Andrew aged 6 with parents Frederick and Rose in Sculcoates, Hull.

In addition there was an Alfred Andrew born Q/E Mar 1895, Sculcoates Reg Dist. (This is the correct quarter for this Alfred judging by his birth date given in 1939).

Julie (the original poster)  --- do you have his original birth certificate or his marriage certificate please? If so what were his father's or parents names? As you will have seen we are trying to help you decide whether the death in 1959 is your Alfred or the one in Hull in the early 1960s.

I have to go out now so you will have a Pennines free time!!
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

I was going to ask the same question re: his parents names and was compiling the info. to see if I could match anything up - agree with the birth reference GRO indexes give mmn SLATER
Alfred's occupation later was Butcher's apprentice

and reply from Julie confirms
grandad parents were frederick andrew & rose hannah andrew ( nee slater), they had 17 kids but 2 died young .
my late father jack who is alfred & olive son  .

Yes, Julie would have to purchase the certificate.  Sadly PDF copies are only available to 1957
