Gosh -- this has moved on a bit since I went out earlier!!

Not that this helps one jot as regards the death year and place of Alfred Andrew -- but there is another Military Record for an Alfred Andrew, Service Number 388605.

Joined in 8 May 1915 in Hull - age 20 years and 2 months. Father Frederick Andrew .
Address initially - 53, Beeton St, Holderness Rd, Hull.
Address at discharge in 1919 appears to have been changed to 4, Elsie's Grove, Flixton St, Hessle Rd, Hull.

(Just for Julie's information if you haven't seen his military record -- he is described as 5ft 6 1/2 ins tall and 5ft 8 1/4 ins tall in boots! He was wounded in action and received a small pension on discharge in 1919 to be reviewed in 6 months)
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

Julie's Alfred's father was called Frederick so maybe.........

Does it give an occupation for Alfred?

Edit
Alfred was a butchers apprentice on latest census

Edited

Firstly Ladyhawk

I think the address given initially for the Alfred on the military record (on FindMyPast) - was the same as on a census record --so it seems to be the right Alfred, with father Frederick.

Julie -- your Alfred doesn't seem to be the one who died in Hull any more, from what has since been found.
From the address on the probate record of the Hull person -- he appears to be a different Albert Andrew with a similar age.

It's confusing I know -- but he MAY just be the one who died in Doncaster shown with a middle initial of 'A' in 1959. You would need to order that death certificate to see whether it is him.

The middle initial MAY just be an error by the Registrar -- as the person giving the Registrar the name of the deceased would say 'Alfred Andrew' --- and the Registrar may initially have thought the Andrew was a middle name and hence wrote A. --- and didn't delete it when the confusion was sorted. That is pure supposition on my part though.

That particular death for Alfred A. Andrew -- shows a person of the correct age at death and in the correct location -- he would be worth checking out.

Do you know whether Olive May was buried or cremated? If she was buried the couple may be in the same grave ---- if you know where that is -- as she died much, much later - you may know that.

The death does not seem to appear in the on-line newspapers -- but Doncaster Library MAY have the 1959 newspapers - to see if there is a death entry for him -- that's if you live locally and could go and check. It will be laborious searching though UNLESS you have the date of death from the death cert (if it's him). You would be looking through that quarter end unless you had a date to narrow the search down. A death notice may reveal where the burial/cremation may have been.
