Help please, for a marr. record.

I have found this family in the 1861 and 1871 census and used their ages to try to find a marriage record for the parents (above).

I thought I found one, Eliza's name being  'Simpson', but cannot find it again. 

Thomas was born c. 1822, Paddington, and Eliza c. 1836, in Chelmsford, Essex, according to the census.

Thomas was a house painter...

What children did they have (and where/when); have you searched their birth registrations on GRO online to ascertain their mother’s maiden name?
