James Noonan and Bridget Lynch 1800's
« on: Monday 23 July 18 22:17 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am looking for any information on James Noonan who married Bridget Lynch in the early 1800's.  I have not been able to find their wedding date and place.

They had Johanna 1849
               John      1857
Daniel     1861(verified my relative) who married Catherine Hannah  1883 and
               immigrated to NYC.
All baptized at St Marys, Cork and Ross

I am looking for James Noonans birth and his parents.  Also birth of Bridget Lynch and her parents. I have not been able to find any information on either.
Thank you very much in advance for any help or guidance!!!!
Linda

Welcome to RootsChat.
Big gaps between those children have you checked for others?
It's better to find a couple's marriage before looking for their births
Marriages usually take place in the brides parish so it's possible they married in another parish.

Sinann,  Thank you for your help!! Yes, I agree, those are huge gaps between children!! I have not found any other children yet.  I  do know for a fact that Daniel Noonan is my relative and his parents are James and Bridget.  I just discovered the other day the other children who belonged to a james and bridget but have not verified they belong to my james and bridget :)

I was looking thru the register today.. I guess I have to get back at it to find their marriage :)

that is another thing I have been trying to find out    On the 1900 federal census,   Daniel and Catherine lived in Manhattan.  The census says that they got married in 1883 and immigrated to US in 1884.  But, sometimes the dates aren't truly accurate.
I have been trying to find out if they met in America or Ireland since Catherine was born in US in 1862. researching ships that have come over etc, marriage registers in both countries. So far, its been a brick wall :)

I did my DNA and have met some of my 3/4th cousins on the Noonan side but I believe that I am the only one researching this far back.  thanks for your help!

Nancy  1847
Johanna 1849
John  1851
Catherine  1853
John      1857
Daniel     1861 (verified my relative) who married Catherine Hannah  1883

The first John most likely died but there doesn't seem to be any burial registers for St Mary's.

Found the US 1900 Census now, it looks clear that Catherine was born in America, parents born Ireland.
I can't see a marriage in Ireland so it seems clear they married in America.

Have you got a birth cert of one of their children to be sure of Catherine's surname?

Since I was also unable to find any marriage records of James and Bridget in Ireland, I agree with you that they probably married in Us.   I will concentrate on NYC since that is where most of my family settled.

Regarding Daniel Noonans wife Catherine, I got her last name from the death certificate of Daniels son , Daniel b 1893. His parents were listed and Catherines maiden name was listed as Hannah.    I have not gotten any birth certificates from his children, one is my grandma.

Thank you again for all your help! have a great day! Linda
