Captain in the Military Train

I've not heard of this before?
It was the groom's occupation in a 1858 marriage.

Can someone enlighten me as to what this was/means, please?

What we would call today the supply column, the element of the army that keeps the fighting men supplied with everything. The forefathers of (principally) the Army Service Corps (later Royal).

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe
