Gordon L J Sanders. Inventor?
« on: Wednesday 25 July 18 06:44 BST (UK) »
Gordon L J Sanders was born in England in  1917 and emigrated to  N Z with his parents in 1926. He died in 1991.

He is reputed to have invented a car seat belt which was soon rendered obsolete by improved designs. Does any record exist to substantiate this story?

You got there first.

I choose to go the Interllectual Property Office [IPONZ] way only to find the site is down for maintenance tonight.

If you strart a new thread headed Wellington Archives look-up please, and quote the line above starting with the all important R number, someone will probably offer to do a look up the next time they are visiting the Wellington Archive.

Alan,

It is far easier if the person who is requesting a file finds the file on Archway, clicks on "order details" and then posts the URL,in this case it would look like this

https://www.archway.archives.govt.nz/ViewFullItem.do?code=1703612

Then the person visiting archives only needs to clicking on that link to pre order the file before visiting and the recipient doesn't have to worry about  the all important R number ;D ;D ;D ;D

Cheers Janette

Thanks.

We each have our own way of doing things. I just pop the R number in the top advanced search box and I'm away.

In my case I have a note book that I record the R numbers in for the research I'm doing. Never quite know when I will be next passing with time to drop in. Last friday the motorway traffic ground to a hault for 20 minutes due to an accident at the Pukekohe / Papakura feed in, and I nearly missed the opening hours.

Note for others, you can only successfully pre-order if you have already been inducted and issued a reader number, to activate the order.

Alan.

PS My illustrated steps, taking the number from my note book.

Alan,

I was referring to folk requesting a look up,Spades usually does the Wellington look ups (bless him) and I think it is only fair to make his life a little easier by posting the URL so all he needs to do when he decides to visit archives is come online and click on the requesters URL,pre order it and off he goes.Doing it that way saves sitting twiddling your thumbs while waiting for the staff to locate and bring out the files that you have just ordered on their computer.
Spades would need a lot of notebooks if he did it your way  ;D ;D

Cheers Janette
