What became of Mary STARBUCK after 22 Nov 1836
« on: Saturday 28 July 18 12:32 BST (UK) »
Mary STARBUCK born 19 Apr 1811 at Harston was a daughter of William STARBUCK & Elizabeth EMMONS/EDMONDS.

The last I can locate Mary was as a witness to her younger sister Ann marriage with William JESSON 28 Nov 1836 at Eaton.

In looking through the 1841 census for Harston I was unable to locate another STARBUCK other than John STARBUCK and his wife and children; John was Mary's younger brother.

Mary's eldest sister Sarah married Francis SHELTON  of Eaton.  Her sister Ann married William JESSON of Eaton. Sister Philadelphia married Samuel MILLHOUSE at Harston and sister Jane married John HAND of Grantham.

I was able to locate Mary's siblings bar Philadelphia; Mary was not with them.

Any ideas?

Hi Suz,

I too looked at the same records but the wife  in:
1841 - Amelia
1851 - Mary
1861 - Philadelphia

I couldn't locate a marriage for Mary STARBUCK & Samuel MILLHOUSE but did for Philadelphia. ??? ??? ???

or am I missing something ???

there is something odd about this - I think "amelia" 1841 is probably Philadelphia -image shows the letters "squashed" up -but there seem to be more letters than are in Amelia

Mary was baptised 1811 and Philadelphia 1812 -just a year between them
I wondered if maybe mary died -haven't found a death - but there are a few trees which have mary Philadelphia b 1812 marrying Samuel Millhouse  - I know the record doesn't show that but am wondering if Philadelphia used the name mary ( it seems from census she did) and it was in fact her who signed at her sisters marriage??

Hello Suz,

i also noticed these trees and a possibility was the melding of the two women into one name was perhaps an attempt to resolve an apparent conundrum; the same conundrum we are attempting to resolve..
.
I am going to see if i can  find baptisms for the children mentioned in the census.

I also located a burial for a Philadelphia MILLHOUSE in 1870.

Will go back and see if I can locate.
