Elizabeth GOODRUM of Fundenhall, NFK and Gissing, NFK
« on: Saturday 28 July 18 13:32 BST (UK) »
Elizabeth GOODRUM of Fundenhall, NFK is my 4X great grandmother. I am working on tracing her linage.  Elizabeth raised her children in Fundenhall, finally marrying their father in 1812 after his first wife died. She is the ancestor of all the Goodrums that appear in the 1800 era census for Fundenhall. I am trying to research Elizabeth's ancestry. Elizabeth Goodrum of Fundenhall was born in GISSING. Her parents moved their family to Fundenhall.  There is a record of John Goodrum of Gissing, Elizabeth's father,  being accepted into the church in Fundenhall. Her father was John Goodrum/Gooderham, born 1725 in Gissing to Edward Gooderham and Mary Munnings. And that's all I have. Does anyone have anything further on the GOODRUMS of GISSING, NFK? Or Mary MUNNINGS, or Elizabeth BUXTON?

Norfolk Record Office has a will of Stephen Buxton, senior, brewer of Gissing dated 1728
REF  NCC  Will Register -Thacker 168

There is a second document regarding his death that lists probate inventory.

Could be the father of Stephen who had daughter Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Goodrum is my 4 x great grandmother too. If she had married James Turner earlier we would have been Turners and not Goodrums! I wonder what life was like for her in a small village like Fundenhall with all those illegitimate children? I think she is a very interesting character.

Hello Keybob - thanks for your message.  I am not able to reply to your message for some reason? I am also descended from Elizabeth Goodrum's son William born 1782 and his wife Hannah and then their son Samuel born 1828 and his wife Rachel. Their son John born 1858 was my great grandfather. Kind regards.  Alison
